Dear Andra & Children's Aid Club:

 I wanted to thank you for the amazing assistance that you provided to my children and I at the beginning of June.

 

 After being laid off from my job in February, I did the best I could to survive on unemployment while I searched for another job. As my job search reached 4 months, the bills piled up and I found myself unable to pay the rent or utilities. I went to the leasing office of my apartment complex to ask for an extension. When I did, I broke down crying under the financial pressure I was feeling. The leasing staff put me in contact with Children's Aid Club in hopes that they would be able to help me pay my rent. Now, I have been a single mother for 11 years and have always struggled, but I have never been in such a situation that I needed to ask for help. I wasn't aware that programs like Children's Aid Club even existed. I filled out an application for financial assistance and was contacted the same day that it was faxed over. Andra was extraordinarily helpful as she walked me through the process, and at no point did I feel as though I was being judged or viewed as a "charity case". Within 2 days I received a call from Andra letting me know that I had been approved. Children's Aid Club was not only going to pay my rent, but also bring me up to date on my utilities and car payment as well.  I couldn't believe it!! The relief that I felt was so overwhelming that I cried for the next 2 days!!

 

 I just think that it's so amazing that there are people out there like you, that are willing to help those in need. Your organization is wonderful and I hope to be able to give back in the near future, to hopefully help someone else out there that may be struggling like I was.

 

I did receive some more great news yesterday, as I was offered and accepted a new job and will be starting on Monday. Thanks to Children's Aid Club, I will be starting my new job without the heavy financial burden I was feeling just a few short weeks ago. I am very optimistic about the future.
